Happy Birthday, MJ!

You're a creeper but its your birthday and that's kinda cool.
There was a very large portion of my life when I was obsessed with Michael Jackson's music, and therefore, I have a lot of really good memories that I associate with a lot of his songs.
Today he turns 50 years old.
That's a f**kin milestone, b.

Konnoisseur... A Demonstrated Lifestyle

*For some reason, memories of going to Philalive last semester reminded me of Dre's verse in Outkast's "Spottieottiedopaliscious":

"As the plot thickens it gives me the dickens
Reminiscent of Charles a li'l disco-tech
nestled in the ghettoes of Niggaville, USA
via (Philadelphaia, Pennsylvania). A li'l spot where
young men & young women go to experience
they first li'l taste of the nightlife.
Me? Well I've never been there... Well perhaps once,
But I was so engulfed in the (SoCo)
I never made it to the door. You speak of hardcore. "

7 YEARS?!

*Remember how surprised you were when you heard that s**t? Was I the only one who thought it was a rumor for like the first three days?

it's been real...

They're over. Just like that. It went by so fast. I've never enjoyed an Olympics so much before. Do they show reruns of the Olympics? I'm seriously hoping that they do.

future heart attack.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!
Right now I'm in Pedestrian chillin with Don as we do each and every Sunday. I was looking around online and I saw something that looked almost as beautiful as it sounds. New T.I. track featuring (get this) Jay-Z. Kanye West. And Lil' Wayne. Wait wait wait... That's not it. One of my future ex-wives, the gorgeous MIA, murders the hook. I wish they had her saying more though. It's still vicious. The beat goes so hard, too. Don just told me to run it back. And I did with no hesitation. Damn this beat is crazy!!! Download it now. This s**t so ridiculous. Can't wait to overplay this.

my mistake.

Here's the video for "Green Light" by John Legend featuring Andre 3000. I gotta be honest: I really wasn't to beat for this song when it first came out. I don't know what it was but it wasn't doing it for me. So when I saw that the video was out I had actually completely forgotten about the song, until it started, then I remembered that I didn't like it. But I'm at work with two hours left on a Friday so I decided to just let it rock. Apparently I never listened to the whole thing before but I sat up in my chair when Dre spit his verse towards the end of the song. He's a beast. Its a mixture between how he carries himself, his on/off beat flow, and the s**t he says in his lines that makes him such a cool ass rapper. If you haven't heard it already, listen to his verse and you'll see what I mean.

viagra.

Couldn't post the song without putting up the picture. New Q-Tip ladies and gentlemen.

like i said...

Here is reason #378 why I'm marrying a woman from the DMV:

Look at it closely. You've seen that face before. That's gymnast Dominique Dawes who comes from none other than Silver Spring, MD. I used to have the meanest crush on her when she was big s**t during the 1996 Olympic's in Atlanta (which I went to) and I thought about her last night while I was watching Shawn Johnson win the gold medal for the women's balance beam after she made that Chinese girl fall with her mind. That's right.
Anyway, I googled Miss Dawe's to see if she was still sexy and she's not doing too bad. And you already know her body's on point.

yeah'doe.

This is the type of thing I like to see from time-to-time. S**t like this makes me happy. And I'm an easy pleaser. Or at least I think so.
Enjoy.

versatility.

Damn son...

*I just watched this video with my boss and in tears. Watching her laugh actually made me laugh harder, and then I realized that I didn't put the necessary emphasis on how funny this video clip is. Its hilarious. Jamie is so accurate with his impersonations and the fact that comedy and acting is how he's paid his bills all of these years and he's actually an extremely gifted piano player and singer is definitely admirable. And its not like we all didn't know that he could sing or play the piano by now but I'm still impressed by just how talented he is. Anyway, the clip is great. Leave a comment. Tell me what you think.

in due time.

Around this time last week, the video for "You're Everything" by Bun B featuring Officer Rick Ross, David Banner, and 8Ball & MJG was on everyone's blogs. For one reason or another, I didn't pay it any attention. I guess I assumed everyone was posting it because it was some new s**t and that's it. Well I was watching TV the other day and the video came on and I was blown away. For those of you who have been checking in with KTH for a while now, you'll remember how much I was gas'in Bun B a couple months ago. He's definitely one of my favorite rappers. This song goes hard. I've been blasting it in my car since Friday. The Jodeci sample is what makes the song for me though. It's so perfect.

Bun B - You're Everything feat. Rick Ross, David Banner, 8Ball & MJG (zshare)

In case you were wondering, this is the Jodeci song they sampled the hook from. Its called "Cry For You" and I don't remember it at all. Shame on me, right?

Not that you care or anything but this is my favorite Jodeci song of all time... EVER! Unfortunately, to those of you who know me well, this will come as no surprise. Anywho, Raekwon and Ghostface rip the s**t outta this track, as they've done many others. Yeah, this is my s**t though. I love this song.

I may have posted this video before. I don't remember. This is a classic Jodeci moment.

run that back.

I really wanna go back to the beach. Like, BAD. When we went last weekend it was mad fun and I feel like a lot happened at that party that we went to that we missed. Anyway, while we were there, this song came on and everyone went retarded. Mind you, my squad of four were the only black people there but that didn't even matter.
I really like s**t like that...

This is exactly what the house we were at looks like. Good times.

asher roth - the lounge

A couple months ago I wrote a post that had a link for Asher Roth's Greenhouse Effect Mixtape on it and like 30 minutes ago I posted his song "I Love College". Well, I got interested and decided to Google the s**t outta this dude and found a pretty tight track by him. It's called "The Lounge" and it has that old school, 1992 type feel to it. "I Love College" is going to be his first single which he's going to release this fall and I have a feeling he's gonna blow up after that. He definitely has the skill. Don't sleep on him. HE's NICE. lol...

for calvin.

I heard this song on a mixtape today and thought about you. Its all the s**t we talk about and pretty much a play-by-play of the beach party we went to last weekend. I'm sure this goes without saying but we HAVE to do that again.
*pauses to think... then smiles*
Ummm... yeah. I went onto youtube hoping that he put out a video for the song but he didn't. However, there is a picture slideshow with the song playing in the background. I think some of the girls from the beach party are in them. lol. Try your hardest to listen to the song. The pics are pretty distracting...

"That party last night was awfully crazy. I wish we taped it."

good morning to you, too.

my role model.

A lot of things have changed,
A lot of things have not. Mainly us.
We gon' get it together, right? I believe that.
Listen... people be askin me all the time,
' Yo Mos, what's gettin ready to happen with Hip-Hop?
Where do you think Hip-Hop is goin?
'
I tell em, 'You know what's gonna happen with Hip-Hop?
Whatever's happening with us.'
If we smoked out, Hip-Hop is gonna be smoked out.
If we doin alright, Hip-Hop is gonna be doin alright.
People talk about Hip-Hop like it's some giant livin in the hillside,
comin down to visit the townspeople.
We. Are. Hip-Hop.
Me, you, everybody. We are Hip-Hop.
So Hip-Hop is goin where we goin.
So the next time you ask yourself where Hip-Hop is goin,
Ask yourself.. Where am I goin? How am I doin?

Here's a video of Mos politic-ing with Cornel West and Bill Maher on issues all too familiar to us. Its ill how he clearly shows how intelligent he is without talking down to anyone or trying to sound smarter than he really is. I personally love how being on tv doesn't stop him from cussing while he talks about religion and politics. Even though I censor my blog, I don't let it stop me from writing the way that I'd speak.
He's also hilarious.

stamped.

Yeah, so make that 3 gold medals.
And he broke the world record.
If you you want to keep track of Phelps' progress, this site is decent. Click here.

thank you, Greece.

I love the Olympics. Everything about it is tight to me. I especially like the way that it gets me interested in sports that I don't watch on a regular basis. For instance, I just finished watching men's syncronized diving. I don't know why. But I'm happy I did. The Chinese beasted and won the gold. It was pretty ill. I don't understand why divers heads don't hurt when they hit the water, though. That s**t's always baffled me.
They look goofy to me but then again... how would I look if I just won an Olympic gold medal?
Photos: Chinese men win 10m Synchronized Diving goldPhotos: Chinese men win 10m Synchronized Diving gold
I'm watching women's beach volleyball now. Cuba's getting fried by the US. Its always nice to see the US fry anyone. Like last night when Jason Lezak, the anchor leg in the men's 4x100m swim relay, took the lead and won the gold medal for the US by beating France by 0.008 seconds. The relay team shatttered the world record already held by the US by 3.99 seconds.
Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay: USA obliterates world record
FYI - Yes, that is a black man you see to the far left and yes, the almighty Micheal Phelps is from Maryland. Baltimore, to be exact.
Make sure you watch him attempt to win his third gold medal of this year's Olympics in the 200m freestyle. His trying to win eight this summer and has already won two.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MS. WALLACE!!!

Not everyone has a love of their life and thats kinda sad because honestly, I have a couple. Pictured above is probably one of the coolest motherf**kers in the world. scratch that. THEUNIVERSE. It sounds sick but I would jump in front of a bus for this woman. And I pray that a situation never occurs where I'd really have to do that because I try to be a man of my word. But back to the point. Today's her bornday and that's pretty important to me so yeah... Here's to D-Stacks.

in other news...

Raphael Saadiq has a new album coming out which it set to drop on September 16th. I've been a fan since way back in the days of Tony! Toni! Toné! so this is a pretty big deal. Not to mention guest appearances by Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, and Joss Stone.

RIP Uncle Bernie

From the Chicago Tribune:
Comedian and Chicago native Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia, his publicist confirmed.

Mac, 50, had been hospitalized for about a week at Northwestern Hospital, according to his spokeswoman. A few years ago, Mac disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs.

The comic born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough could cut an imposing figure. He stood 6-foot-3, was built like a fullback and carried himself with a bouncer's reticence. But perhaps the strongest weapon in the Chicago comedian's arsenal was that voice, that amalgam of thought and a delivery that could rise like a tidal wave, outpace a Gatling gun and remained, to his last days, loud and unapologetic.

He wasn't scared, he told us time and again, to tell anyone what he thought, to say what others were afraid to say. That fearlessness wasn't always welcome, considering Mac didn't get his big break until his 30s. But when he did, the comic skyrocketed to success in stand-up, television and the big screen.

Que?

The beef's over? I honestly did not know that. I'm losing it. Anyway, the two ATLiens collaborated on a song for Luda's new album titled Theater of the Mind. Its about time for a new Luda album, too. I'm seriously hoping for some Back for the First Time type s**t.

Once again, shout out to DCtoBC.com

my neighborhood pt. 2: my hood

Here's a video that someone was fortunate enough to catch of one night during the camp out for the ?uestlove AF1's. Apparently some kid walked up and took pictures of the die-hards posting up one night and one of them got pissed and started demanding that he delete the picture. The kid refused and got punked in front of everyone, then chased away. Like any scrawny kid would do, he came back a couple minutes later with a crew of 9. Its not like he didn't know where the people who chased him would be. They were sleeping on the street for three days. It'd be gully if I could tell you that the ten of them beasted on the entire squad of campers, but instead they shouted expletives and threw water on some people. Weak right? WRONG! This was only a diversion. After the entire line scattered to try to whoop ass, the rest of the crew stole chairs, iPods, and some other s**t. May not sound like that big of a deal to you, but if you're camped out on the street for some kicks, your chair and your iPod is your LIFE.
Trust me. I know.

Pretty funny.

This video is a perfect example of crew love and the story above reminded me of it. I haven't watched this in a while but I used to show it to everyone. Its a big hit at family events and secret organization meetings. Its 8+ minutes long but its so worth it.
Enjoy.

my neighborhood.

Yesterday, the ?uestlove Air Force One's dropped at one of my favorite spots around the way, Ubiq. They were designed by ?uestlove himself and he actually came to the store to sell some pairs, sign autographs, and dj a little. The shoes dropped tuesday but people were camped out from Saturday. I went by the store on Monday to talk to a friend of mine who works there and he told me that ?uest came by on Sunday night just to say what's up, and was so surprised to see people already camped out that he went and bought everyone in line hoagies. That's Love. Here are some flicks from the event.
[DSC_2498+[425x425].JPG]
This young soldier is Eddie and he was the first in line. That's right. Number One. He got in line at 5pm on SATURDAY. This dude has a cast on his foot from just getting surgery on three of his toes, and he brought his pops along too. They were number 1 and 2 in the line. Dedication like s**t.
