Char's very first birthday is on Thursady.
That year went by super fast.
I'm excited, though...

up all night.

A month ago i wrote a post about this guy Blu from Cali and how he was a pretty decent rapper. I also mentioned that "Up All Night" was my favorite song off of his Johnson & Johnson mixtape. Well here's the video. I like it, too. The concept is simple but fitting. It also has a "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" thing goin on. Good S**t.

you're so right.

Ms. Aden (aka my second left nut) wrote a post last night/early this morning about a vicious, and one of my personal favorite, Andre 3000 line. As I read the verse while rapping it in my head, it reminded me of this mixtape that I downloaded a while back with a bunch of verses from him and Kanye. I put my boy Calvin on to it a couple months ago. lol. I just thought about this one weekend over the summer: Cal, Don, and I drove to Atlantic City and listened to this cd while I slammed brews in the backseat. When "Bittersweet" by Kanye and John Mayer came on it started a heated conversation among the three of us about past relationships. We listened to it at least four times in a row. Good times... Come to think of it, that was the same night we walked around the casino and parking garage for 3 1/2 hours looking for Calvin's car before we finally found it.

The point is, Kanye and Andre 3000's best verses from 2007 are on this one mixtape, therefore making it a must have. So yeah... do that.

Oh, and Aden... My verse tops yours:

Devin the Dude - What A Job (Andre 3000's verse)
See we do it for that boy that graduated
That looked you in your eyes real tough and said 'preciate it
And that he wouldn'ta made it if it wasn't for your CD number 9
And he's standing with his baby momma Kiki and she cryin' talkinbout
That they used to get high to me in high school
And they used to make love to me in college
Then they told me 'bout they first date, listenin' to my tunes
And how he, like to finger nail polish
I say hate to cut you off but I gotta go
I wish you could tell me mo' but I'm off to the studio, gotta write tonight
Hey, can you put us in your raps? I don't see why not
Devin it's the Dude you gon' probably hear him talking 'bout

G status.

The Obama's did their first interview since the election last night on 60 minutes. I watched it while trying to get some work done. That was damn near impossible...

I'm going to try to find the whole thing for those of you who may have missed it.
Your welcome.
UPDATE
When I worte this post this morning I decided to tile it "G status." Not for any particular reason. It just seemed fitting. Well now, at 3:13 PM, I see that GQ Magazine has named President Obama "Man of the Year". Surprised? Yeah, me neither.
Why is he so f'ing smoothe? It doesn't make any sense.
Look at him and the baddest First Lady of all time leaving dinner in Chicago.
They're too perfect.

high school parties at the rec.

That's the first thing I thought of when I watched this video at Elitaste.
These dudes go in...

*To all of my readers from the DMV: Doesn't every youngin in this video look like someone you know from back home? LMAO!

monday morning music.

Right now I need you to trust that if these were not worth having, I wouldn't have posted them. However, if you only download one of these, download the first. I went over to Dizzy's crib a week or two ago and he was watching Dead Presidents so I decided to check it out. To my knowledge, its one of those "hood classics" and I felt kinda bad that I hadn't seen it yet. The movie? Ummm, I don't really know. The soundtrack? In-f**king-credible. Every time a song came on during the movie it fit the scene so perfectly. I've been playing the soundtrack in the car since the day after I watched the movie, feeling like the coolest n**ga in North Philly. lol. I'm not lying when I say it will make you appreciate music so much more.

DESTINY! YOU WANT THIS IN YOUR LIFE!
Download it now so we're on the same page when I come home... Whenever that is.

Dead Presidents Sountrack

The two below are must-haves as well. If you're not quite up on Cool Kids or Dom Kennedy, or you need your memory refreshed, these should do the trick.

Well its Monday morning, probably the worst time of the entire week, and i'm coming off of the most eventful weekend of the semester so far. Thanks to these for being down for the ride the whole way through and keeping everything stable. Lets hurry up and get through this week, shall we?

"Here's the deal, negro!" lol. I wanted to write a compassionate and caring post for you and when I was thinking about how to start it, that was the first thing that came to mind. I'm sorry but that s**t's funny to me. Anywho, moving on. I just wanted to let you know that whatever's going on is just a minor bump in the road and more than likely one of life's many tests. Trust me. I get tested more than..... a porn star? That analogy sucked but you knew what I meant. The point is, as cliche as it sounds, everything really does happen for a reason and you can't fool yourself into thinking that s**tty situations will remain that way. I don't know why but time seems to move in slow motion when you feel like things are out of your control, but that's just temporary. The key is to figure out what you did to get yourself where you are and if there was anything you could've done prevent it. You're the only one who's gonna have your back 100% of the time. But you know you always got us 99.99%, which is pretty damn good. I'ma hit you later though. Stay up son.

These songs usually work for me when I'm in a funk. They're kinda personal to me but I feel like you might need them more than I do...

*Oh s**t. You're always putting riddles and brain busters on your blog. Here's an easy and unintentional one that I didn't realized until after I published this post: What is the significance of our hats?

freeze. now take my picture.

Many of you probably don't know this but I've worked in childcare for the past seven years. Kids are my passion. I love 'em. It's because of kids that I honestly believe that people are inherently good. Some people just get f**ked up somewhere along the way. With all of my flaws and imperfections, its crazy to think that I'm looked up to. And I guess its due to the fact that I vividly remember being in elementary school and watching older dudes' every move and wishing that I could hurry up and get older so I could be just like them that it trips me out that I am that older dude now. (was that a run-on sentence? felt like it, right?) Anyway, I rediscovered these pictures of me and my boy Devon singing our favorite camp song with the kids we've worked with for the past couple of years. Good times...

i always did like this scene...

I've always believed that this was the best scene from All About The Benjamins and today my boy Dizzy agreed. When he's telling dude behind the counter the lottery numbers its hilarious. What my mom would categorize as "stupid" funny. Mike Epps is the man and I'm kinda waiting for the next movie he's in.

The old lady's line at 3:00 goes out to a special someone. They know who they are. lol. But no... really though.

This scene is probably my second favorite scene in the movie and that's really only because of the first minute of it. I remember one time I watched 8 or 9 times in a row, laughing exactly the same each time. That s**t never gets old.

And Eva Mendes could get it... early.

win/win situation.

yeah. yep.

On our way to Hooters the other day we were driving through Philly down Broad Street (doesn't it seem like if you're driving through Philly you have to drive down Broad Street?) and as I looked out of the window I mentioned how now that the Phillies and Barack have won, it feels like there's nothing to really get excited about out here anymore.

Aden helped me out with that last night...

all grown up.

Our baby girl Verlencia got a new job and the family couldn't be more proud. We took a trip last evening to visit her at her new place of employment. Good times.

jacked.

Gotta be honest... I'm genuinely impressed. My very first blog post was in September of '07 and I took a break from it until that December. This was back before blogging meant as much to me as it does now. Before I had found my rhythm, if you will. I remember exactly when it was that I realized that this was some fly s**t and extremely therapeutic. I was sitting on the couch at my mom's house back in Maryland and for some reason, I kept finding s**t on the internet that I wanted to talk about. Wish I had a better story about how this slight as blog started but that's about it. The 3 sites that I was constantly going to to get material were HypeMachine, Herfection, and WayMoreFresher. I still visit these multiple times a day and every once in a while I'll just straight up steal something from them, usually crediting my source of course.

In the past couple days I've been seeing some things on WMF that I feel are worth sharing with you. I'm really liking what I see coming from them lately. See for yourself:

On Thursday they shocked the s**t outta me when they post this flyer for Commonwealth's current sale. Why is this such a shock, you ask? To my knowledge, everyone at WMF lives in England. And as you know, Commonwealth is my favorite store back home in DC.

That same day, they posted a much better picture of the eggplant foamposites than the one I put up.

And then on Friday... I don't even know what to say...

adrian threatened to expose me. smh.

DO NOT COPY dropped their 1st tee in conjunction of the election this year and its quite obvious as to who they support. Other than Undercrowns Obama tee, this one is the dopest by far. We also decided to help them promote the tee as well. Given is a small bio as well as good look at the tee, im pretty sure all you Jordan heads will love this one…ALSO take the time to read what DNC is all about, this isnt the 1st project we will see from them.

Barack O Blackmon.

The tees are $25 and $20 for any additional orders. Screen printed on pre-shrunk cotton tee, the white is limited to 120 pieces while the black is for friends and family in the future, or if you get lucky. This is supported by Real Mango Juice and for inquires on these shirts, shoot us an email at info@realmangojuice.com

*Even though the man with the plan already won (s**ted on those bammas, really), these shirts still make for a dope addition to your wardrobe. Don't sleep on these or Arian will flood the internet with incriminating information he has on you via realmangojuice.com or other useful means of mass communication.

that just happened.

Congratulations to the 44th President of the United States of America, Mr. Barack Obama.
*There are so many thoughts running through my mind right now. I'm still recovering from last night's celebration and all the different emotions that I was experiencing at one time. Once I get my head together I'll give my two cents on what this monumental event means to me.
**A couple things happened last night during all the anticipation and then commotion. One that I just remembered was me and running up and down Broad Street in N. Philly with my friends and a large group of perfect strangers yelling "I want every f**kin elementary, middle, high school, and collge textbook rewritten TOMORROW!" lol. I get wild sometimes...

random.

This is funny to me because I was just watching Pirates of the Carribean early today, and then I run into this video. That may be my absolute favorite trilogy of all time. And I'm uber impressed that they filmed all three of them at the same time. That's just genius.

Speaking of genius, here's a little unimportant detail about this video: the kid's f**king 11-years-old!
