I just realized that Dove has come out with some really good commercials. In terms of women's self esteem and being comfortable in your own skin, Dove definitely gets the point across. There are multiple ways they could have done their advertisements but I like that they decided to take an artistic approach. The first one make me scared to have a daughter. Seriously.

This is a pretty interesting. Apparently this guy Louis Theroux thought it would be a good idea to ride around with police officers through North Philadelphia's roughest neighborhoods and film a documentary for BBC2. Smart, right? Personally, I feel like people talk about the hood or being from the hood that its actually been watered down for sake of conversation. The world is a f**ked up place. Especially America, the self proclaimed "greatest nation in the world."

I guess I posted this because being a Temple student obviously means that most of my time is spent in North Philadelphia, and 50% of my friends live on the exact blocks driven through on the film. This is the first of 6 parts and if your interested, the rest can be found on youtube as well.

I found this video on herfection yesterday and I was so close to not watching it. That is, until I realized that it was Coldplay and it was new. Started watching it and realized I could't stop until it was over, which is rare with me and videos I find on blogs. Sometimes I just lose interest before it's over and I'm sure its the same with some of you. Anyway, an old lady friend of mine was a pretty big Coldplay fan so she kinda got me hip to them. I wouldn't embellish and call myself a fan necessarily, but I do like some of their s**t. The video is good though and actually just gave me an idea...

In the past couple of months I've been blessed with the opportunity to spend virtually every waking moment with the members and founders of AnmlHse. I distinctly remember the first time I went to the old apartment in Center City, which was lavishly decorated with jean stains on the wall, more empty bottles than I have fingers and toes, and a couch in the bathroom that I wouldn't suggest putting even your coat on, much less your body. My friendship with these cats since August makes me think of countless memories that I will forever store in my "Sigh... Good times" folder in my mind. Memories like $20 strippers found on craigslist in the basement, couches on fire in the back alley, passing out in the diner then somehow waking up only to sing "Beauty" by Dru Hill, then falling back asleep, etc. And this is when they lived in the nice part of town.

To everyone's surprise, s**t escalated when they moved to North Philly, right outside of Temple's campus. That is now my home away from home, and due to many nights of sleeping on couches or someone's floor, I've been named an honorary roommate. Its bad to point where while I was at the Stussy Inauguration party (yeah, the one I said I wasn't going to a couple posts ago), a complete stranger walked up to me at the bar and said "Oh s**t. What's good you ol' AnmlHse ass n**ga?" before dapping me up. All I could do was laugh.

Now I'll forgive you if you live in Philly and you've never been to one of their parties, but if you've never heard of them... you are literally the last of a dying breed. For those of you who dont know how we get down, let me bring you up to speed...

I don't have a problem with good songs being sampled as long as they're done well and do the orignal justice. For instance, I'm sure that by now all of you have noticed that the song that plays in the background on this page was sampled for Nas' song One Love off of Illmatic. Good music is good music at the end of the day so I really dont mind tasteful sampling.

The two videos below are both good in my opinion and for some reason I just thought about them while I was in the kitchen a couple minutes ago.
