Writer's block. Give me a second...

I'd love to pretend like I'm not writing this post with a smile on my face. Its been far too LONG since I've posted and writing again feels amazing. But fuck all this mushy small talk. Let's just hurry up and do this and enjoy it while it lasts. Like firing up a jay on the porch before your mom gets home from work. Don't worry... someone reading this knows exactly what I'm talking about.

So I'm currently living a day-to-day life where internet access is limited. (Hopefully, I'll get a chance to go more in depth about that in a later post.) Not for any real reason other than the fact that I can't bear to spend my hard earned money on an expensive ass internet plan; not yet at least. Mind you, this is not the reason for my half-year absence, nor is this post as a whole a contract written in blood that I'm back to regularly scheduled programming. Unfortunately, none of the above. However, while surfing the free internet in my local library, I found inspiration. And that shit felt good.

Coming soon. 4/20/2010 to be exact. Enough said.

Around this time last year I made a bet with my friend Destiny that Wale's debut album would come out within the next year. She was convinced that it wouldn't, and I was offended. Needless to say, a year has passed and I'm still here twiddling my thumbs, patiently waiting. Even though I lost the (unofficial) bet, I'm still really proud of the progression that he's made in the past 12 months and I honestly to consider it an L. Perfection takes time and I really hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment by saying that. Everything in due time. We'd hate for him to rush the release of his album just because like some artists do *cough*AsherRoth*cough*.

His first single "Chillin" with Lady Gaga hit the radio about a month ago and the video is due out soon.

I'm well aware of the fact that by now, more than half of my readers (if I still have readers) have downloaded this mixtape and are already over it. Due to the long, unexpected hiatus that however, I never posted it with a couple of my thoughts on the project...

This is by far the best altogether mixtape I've heard in a while. The concept is so in depth that it even dictates the order of the tracks. Every single song is incredible in my opinion except for maybe two that I could have done without. The skits are hilarious and actually make sense, as opposed to some mixtapes/albums where the skits just seem random and unnecessary. Even the front and back covers are relevant. I've been playing this for a month straight. If you haven't, I advise you to "get familiar."

I'm currently listening to the Cool Kids "Gone Fishing" mixtape in its entirety and I must say that its pretty good. I've been cool with the Cool Kids since I first heard them but I was completely convinced when I saw them perform at the Rock The Bells concert last summer. I remember it vividly: Donovan and I were on the lawn chiefin and drink beer that we snuck in, when out of nowhere we hear the crowd by the small stage go crazy. We decided to walk over to see what all the hoopla was about and the Cool Kids were on stage KILLING s**t. I've been a fan ever since.

So far this mixtape is pretty damn good so I highly suggest downloading it. I'm quite pleased.

I feel like recently I've been watching a lot more TV than I have in a really long time. Don't know if that's a bad thing or not, but I'm pretty sure it is. In my defense however, I've been watching mostly Law and Order and Cash Cab and no BET. If you didn't already know, I can't stand BET. It's the worst stations ever and hopefully it'll be shut down someday soon. Call it 'wishful thinking'.
Anyway, since I've raised my television intake, I have to watch tons of commercials. More than I'd care to. Every so often I'll catch a one that literally makes me laugh out loud.
Below are the three that I could actually remember.

Of these new Cheetos commercials, I believe the first that I remember seeing was the one where the chick puts the Cheetos in dryer at the laundromat. That was okay I guess but I didn't go off talking about it afterward. This commercial is f**king hilarious to me. Okay, maybe not the whole thing, but the way the white lady says "Hola Banessa" kills me.

So Hippie doesn't like the E*Trade commercials with the baby but personally, I think they're kinda cool. I saw this one for the first time last night while I was watching the Duke v. Villanova and I laughed so hard I choked on my food. The dialogue between the two babies is hilarious and the black baby's faces are priceless, epecially at :24.

Again, its the facial expressions that make this commercial so funny to me. The difference is, this n**ga doesn't have a face. How he does it, I'm really not sure.

I love concept mixtapes. It doesn't matter if its new material from one artist, like Wale's Mixtape About Nothing, or a mixtape put together with multiple artists whose songs have relating themes. Either way, I enjoy it. Your Favorite White Boy, Nappy Afro, and Kevin Nottingham (yeah, I dont know who they are either) have made "The Good Morning Mixtape" which is basically just a compilation of songs that are good to hear as you're getting your day started.

Good idea.

Besides the creativity of the front and back covers, the promo video that they made is really what sold me.

Alright, so I'm texting my lady back and forth sleep somehow becomes the topic of discussion... kind of. I have this thing where depending on where I'm sleeping and what time I go to bed, I'll wake up in the middle of the night and go get something to eat and/or drink. I'll take a couple minutes to consume whatever it was that I found then I'll go back to sleep. Essentially its a midnight snack only my craving usually comes at around 3 or 4 in the morning.

Anyway, last night I woke up as usual and went to the kitchen to do some exploring. I ended up settling for some tortilla chips, a raisin bagel, and a cup of apple juice. Crucial. I was right back asleep in a matter of seconds. THIS IS WHERE S**T GETS WEIRD.

When I fell back asleep I had the strangest dream I've had in a while. For those of you that know me... well, let me not even go there. All I'm gonna say is that I've dealt with some crazy women in my life who have done some crazy shit. The queen pen of them all, lets call her Keri (looked around my room and saw the lotion bottle), is the one who decides to invade dream and make a guest appearance. Great. Trust me when I say that if Keri is in my dream, its about to be some wild s**t.

So it starts with us in the super market. Mind you, we don't even speak anymore so what I'm doing in a super market with this jont, I don't know. So we're walking down the aisles, picking up things that we needed. I think she needed a ride to the super market and I needed to go anyway so I picked her up. Some s** happened while we were shopping but I can't remember what it was right now. Hopefully it'll come to me later. But yeah, we get to the cashier and this midget couple tries to just cut right in front of us. Now anyone with an elementary school education or higher knows that cutting is not a matter to be taken lightly, so I say "Excuse me, but we were next," to which they replied "So the f**k what? We have like 4 things and you have a whole cart full of s**t. Just Chill." Keri is insane and will smack your senile grandmother for calling her the wrong by the name, so of course she starts to go off to these two little people in the middle of the store and I have to calm her down, even though in my mind I'm wishing I never brought her ass in the first place. So I tell them "F**k it. Just go" and out of nowhere, these two women who were behind us with their groceries the whole time decide it'd be smart to comment on the whole thing. So their sassin us and saying s**t and we're tellin them its none of their business so they can shut the f**k up and its all very interesting. Even when we're paying for our stuff, they're still talking. Right before we leave I turn to say something smart and realize that one of the women is a stone cold MILF. And I got a thing for older women. My smart comment some how turns into straight charm and we're flirting back and forth. Keri sees this and gets pissed, and she was already mad to begin with. She gets way out of line (kinda like when we were together) and starts yelling at me. So we get outside and I tell to calm down or I'll leave her in front of the super market with her s**t and call her a cab. She replies "F**k you. I don't need you" so I take her bags out and start walking the cart to my car. Out of nowhere, this b**ch runs past me with like 10 cans of Campbells soup and starts throwing them at my car while screaming that she hates me at the top of her lungs. My first thought was to choke the s**t out of her but instead I called the police and lit a Black and Mild.

She hates that I smoke.

It makes me so happy to see to because I personally believe that 808s and Heartbreak was a great album in all aspects. And I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. But at the same time, I was really hoping that was his coping mechanism for his breakup with shorty (yes, guys need to cope sometimes too), and that he'd move on and go back to being his regular self... which, as we all know, is far from regular.

As some of you may know, Pusha T and Malice of the Clipse stopped bangin with Pharrell a while back and consequently ended up leaving his StarTrak label. The fact that the squabble was remained unsettled for a couple years afterwards has been mentioned in a couple verses by the Clipse here and there.
I don't know about you but it makes me so happy to see them in the studio together again. I think I just felt a single tear just fall from my eye.

Alright, so I've always really liked this video and I'm almost positive that at least 75% of KTH's readers (that's about 7 1/2 people) can recite the whole song word for word. I think I was in the 7th or 8th grade when I first saw this video so you can imagine how great of an appreciation I had for it. Jadakiss is one of the most underrated rappers out. He gets major play when he first comes out with something new, but then he's quickly forgotten about. Which reminds me... who do I have to kill to get a new Fabolous album? Anyway...

I'm extremely excited you write this post for a couple different reasons.

- Asher Roth is one of the only "on the rise" artists that I'm excited about and actually listen to.
- As you can see in the picture below, he wore a University of Maryland hoodie and shorts at last years MtvU Woodie Awards a couple months ago.
- The video for "I Love College" is finally out and it reminds me of those good AnmlHse moments I was telling you about (see: You and me baby...).

I almost forgot. Another reason why this post excites me: Asher stopped by the Undercrown office a couple weeks ago which where my boys Dizzy, G, and Justin work. The tee he has on in the video that says college on it is from there. Sick.

Listen up! If you're like me then you dont watch the majority of the videos that people put on their blogs. I'm begging you! For the sake of entertainment, please watch this one. Way funnier than chimpanzee on a segway (which is still pretty f'in funny to me). Basically, this kid and who I believe to be his dad go to the dentist. My best bet is to get a couple teeth pulled but stitches are mentioned so I'm really not sure. Afterwards, they get back in the car and the guy films the kid's reaction to the medication that they put you on for such procedures. PURE COMEDY. And it was especially funny to me because about three years ago, I went to the dentist to get all four of my wisdom teeth taken out and there were complications with the last one so I had to go to the hospital. Mouth full of gauze wrap, swolen cheeks, involuntary crying... It wasn't a good look. When we get to the area of the hospital where they do oral surgery, the nurse lays me down in the room and puts the gas mask looking thing over my face and tells me to breathe in through my mouth if I want more, and in through my nose when I've had enough. I took the deepest breath I possibly could through my mouth and was knocked out IMMEDIATELY. Not to mention I had the illest dream while I was laying there: Inside my brain was pitch black and all of the thoughts and memories that I had were in white and they were flowing through my brain like a white water rapid. Then this tiny version of myself emerges out of the river of thoughts, and starts surfing down them. I bulls**t you not. I hope I never forget that dream. I said all that to say that I know exactly how that kid felt and if I was his age the first time I experienced hospital drugs, I would've been freaking out too.

I just realized that Dove has come out with some really good commercials. In terms of women's self esteem and being comfortable in your own skin, Dove definitely gets the point across. There are multiple ways they could have done their advertisements but I like that they decided to take an artistic approach. The first one make me scared to have a daughter. Seriously.

This is a pretty interesting. Apparently this guy Louis Theroux thought it would be a good idea to ride around with police officers through North Philadelphia's roughest neighborhoods and film a documentary for BBC2. Smart, right? Personally, I feel like people talk about the hood or being from the hood that its actually been watered down for sake of conversation. The world is a f**ked up place. Especially America, the self proclaimed "greatest nation in the world."

I guess I posted this because being a Temple student obviously means that most of my time is spent in North Philadelphia, and 50% of my friends live on the exact blocks driven through on the film. This is the first of 6 parts and if your interested, the rest can be found on youtube as well.

In the past couple of months I've been blessed with the opportunity to spend virtually every waking moment with the members and founders of AnmlHse. I distinctly remember the first time I went to the old apartment in Center City, which was lavishly decorated with jean stains on the wall, more empty bottles than I have fingers and toes, and a couch in the bathroom that I wouldn't suggest putting even your coat on, much less your body. My friendship with these cats since August makes me think of countless memories that I will forever store in my "Sigh... Good times" folder in my mind. Memories like $20 strippers found on craigslist in the basement, couches on fire in the back alley, passing out in the diner then somehow waking up only to sing "Beauty" by Dru Hill, then falling back asleep, etc. And this is when they lived in the nice part of town.

To everyone's surprise, s**t escalated when they moved to North Philly, right outside of Temple's campus. That is now my home away from home, and due to many nights of sleeping on couches or someone's floor, I've been named an honorary roommate. Its bad to point where while I was at the Stussy Inauguration party (yeah, the one I said I wasn't going to a couple posts ago), a complete stranger walked up to me at the bar and said "Oh s**t. What's good you ol' AnmlHse ass n**ga?" before dapping me up. All I could do was laugh.

Now I'll forgive you if you live in Philly and you've never been to one of their parties, but if you've never heard of them... you are literally the last of a dying breed. For those of you who dont know how we get down, let me bring you up to speed...

I don't have a problem with good songs being sampled as long as they're done well and do the orignal justice. For instance, I'm sure that by now all of you have noticed that the song that plays in the background on this page was sampled for Nas' song One Love off of Illmatic. Good music is good music at the end of the day so I really dont mind tasteful sampling.

I have four or five shoe boxes of CDs unber my bed back at home in Maryland. Due to the fact that I haven't touched the boxes in a couple years, they're all covered with dust and I've completely forgotten the majority of the CDs in them. For some reason though, I decided to flip through them the other day and was pleased to find Clipse's debut album Lord Willin'. I brought it with when I went to Philly with Nik and Dizzy the other day and we literally rapped every word to every song on it. I mean, songs that I had completely forgotten about I somehow still knew word for word. It's just a classic.
One of my favorites. Its hard to belive this came out 6 1/2 years ago.
Can't wait for Till the Casket Drops set to release March 17, 2009.

When I was a kid I watched way too much TV. I didn't have any siblings to do fun "kid things" with and I went to private school all my life so I didn't really have friends from my neighborhood. But yeah, I was pretty much raised on TV. I distinctly remember watching Arthur til it was time to leave for school and Hey Arnold right when I got back. You probably did it too.

This is my absolute favorite opening credits song ever though.
Too bad I didn't know what the hell they were saying until the other day when I looked it up.

And one more thing... If you fall asleep watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network and wake up around 9:30 or 10 and your TV's still on (like I did the other day), this next show just might be on. I went to my boy's house last night to chill a little before we went out and when I got there he was watching Pineapple Express. When I went to see it at the movies over the summer I was a little "on" so I remembered laughing the entire time, but not really what I was laughing at. That s**t is hilarious. Funniest movie I've seen in a while. Its out on DVD now so I think I'm gonna go get it from Best Buy tomorrow... then copy it when I get home and return it back later that day.
